After Hours
Emergencies
If an emergency should arise, please call 911. Emergencies are considered to be those conditions that are life-threatening: loss of consciousness, severe bleeding, seizure, etc. In the case of minor emergencies (lacerations, cuts, mild fractures, sprains), please call our office first for instructions.
After Hours Care
We know that kids always seem to get sick or hurt after business hours. If an emergency concern comes up after hours that truly cannot wait until the morning, please call the regular office number and your call will be forwarded to a Children Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) Pediatric Nurse-on-Call. The nurse will be able to advise you, or if necessary, will contact a Northside Pediatric provider to return your call. For emergencies that require immediate assistance, please dial 911. For ingestion or poisonings, please call the Poison Control Center at 800-222-1222 (open 24 hours a day).
If your child needs to be seen outside of our office hours, we do recommend a pediatric specific urgent care or emergency room. Children’s Health Care of Atlanta has multiple pediatric urgent care locations and offers the ability to reserve a spot online prior to arrival. Click the button below to for more information:
We do not recommend using insurance advice lines or insurance related telemedicine services. We find that these services are often not pediatric specific, and care is not always optimal. Give us a call first, and we can help figure out next steps together.
